Something that concerns a lot of individuals looking to rent cars is whether or not they can rent the car without having their own driver’s insurance. Why would someone not already have driver’s insurance? Well, they may live in a city in which their own transportation is not needed, so they use public transportation. This may mean that they don’t have a car. However, they may have their license.

Most individuals who have cars have driver’s insurance. But once in a while there is that person who comes to the car rental establishment and they don’t have a car. That means they don’t have insurance. So what does that mean for them when wanting to rent a car? Are they going to be able to rent the car? The answer might surprise you.

No insurance?

So let’s say you walk into your local car rentals place and you tell them you don’t have insurance. Do you think they’re going to look at you like you’re a terrible person? The truth is that they won’t. They’re not going to look at you like you’re terrible because there are plenty of people who walk into their establishment and they don’t have insurance.

Here is how they do it:

- The car rental establishment will make a copy of your driver’s license. From there they will then tell you what your options are. They may also offer you other things that you may or may not need, so make sure you’re not going to end up paying for things that you don’t need.

- If you tell them that you don’t have driver’s insurance, then they will let you know that they have an insurance plan for you. You will have to purchase that insurance plan if you don’t have insurance of your own or your insurance doesn’t cover rental cars.

That’s another issue - that some insurance companies may not cover rental cars. This has to do with what sort of insurance you have taken out with them. If you have a full coverage plan, you can expect that a rental car is going to be covered. If you have a liability plan, you need to look closely at what you have purchased. Either way, you’re going to have to provide the car rental business with a copy of your insurance card.

But if you don’t have an insurance card, that’s alright. They will offer you their own insurance, which will cover you while you rent the car. The prices will vary based on the business you decide to do business with. So if you don’t have driver’s insurance, make sure you make this part of the deal when shopping around for a company. Make sure you find the best rate or you may find you’re paying more for insurance than what you need to.

Problem solved

So now you can see how easy it is to solve the problem. If you don’t have driver’s insurance, that is definitely not an issue. If you have a license, then you’re in business. The only reason why someone should have to worry about not being able to rent a car is if they are too young or they are not licensed to drive. Other than those two things, you should be fine when it comes to renting a car anywhere in the world. So at least you now know that you don’t have to worry if you need to rent a car and you have no insurance. That is just one more thing that you can add to the things that you know.

Road safety is everyone`s concern, though many people aren`t even sure of what it means. This simple phrase covers a lot of areas, all of which involve staying safe and being responsible on the road. It applies to everyone who drives, cycles or even walks and the idea is to keep everyone out of harm`s way.

When it comes to road safety, cars and trucks are by far the most dangerous thing on the road. The sheer weight and speed make them potential weapons when used irresponsibly and this has brought about quite a few laws to help protect both those in the cars and those outside as well as provide roadside assistance.

Drinking Drunk driving causes over 13,000 deaths every year, but most people still think nothing of having a couple of beers before hitting the road. Unfortunately, even if you don`t feel drunk, your reflexes are impaired and even a few seconds difference can cause death when dealing with a motor vehicle.

While there are laws against drinking and driving, it still lies in the hands of the people to stop this problem. If you`re going to go out partying, assign a designated driver or call a taxi to get home safely. And don`t let others who have been drinking get into the driver`s seat.

Novice Drivers New drivers are a high risk category. While everyone makes mistakes sometimes, some of those errors can be deadly. With this in mind, new laws have been passed in many states to help new drivers learn to drive safely. Extended learning periods, minimum required driving times and requiring new drivers to be accompanied by an older driver are all methods of keeping the roads secure while young people learn the ropes.

Alertness After you`ve been driving for a while, it`s easy to get complacent, especially if you are very familiar with the route you`re taking. Did you know that the majority of accidents take place within a few minutes from home? People are familiar with their neighborhood, so they tend not to pay as much attention as they ought to, with tragic results.

Road safety means paying attention and being alert. Stop completely at stop signs, pay attention to the lights and keep an eye out for the unexpected. It`s also important to wear a seat belt and to strap children into their car seats, even if you`re just popping down the street for a moment. It only takes a second for everything to change and you want to be prepared.

Motorbikes and Bicycles Of course, road safety isn`t only in the hands of those who drive heavier vehicles. Motorbikes are particularly dangerous to the rider because of the lack of protection. While a motorbike may not do nearly as much damage to a car as another vehicle might, these types of accidents have the highest rate of mortality. The safety factors can be boosted by using appropriate protective gear, driving responsibly and keeping the bike in good shape.

Bicycles can also affect road safety. We`ve all seen cyclists who fail to check behind them and swerve into traffic, or who dodge between vehicles in a hurry. This not only poses a threat to the cyclist, it can also cause a car accident as someone swerves to get out of the way. Drunk cycling might sound funny, but it`s also a huge cause of deaths in the US.

Road safety is something we all need to consider when out and about. Be responsible when you are out and about, whether on foot or driving and take care. Being safe is everyone`s responsibility as well as having CAA insurance.

Many times, when people are in the excitement of purchasing a new car, they forget to calculate the cost of the auto insurance policy they will need to protect their new ride. This can put people under financial stress because they are often stretched to the very limits of their monthly budget for the car payment, but later find that the car insurance rates on their new acquisition will put a considerable financial burden on them.

It is extremely essential these days to include a first-class automobile insurance policy. Being protected is important for two primary reasons. It is lawfully obligatory in virtually every state and province in the US and Canada, but also since it protects persons from a disastrous financial situation, should a major accident transpire that causes property damage and/or bodily injury.

On top of that, any time that a vehicle is purchased with financing from a lending institution, there will also be a requirement from the lender that the purchaser has collision and comprehensive auto insurance coverage, in addition to liability coverage. This type of coverage protects the owner and the lender from any loss that might arise from an accident. Once the loan is paid off, the purchaser can drop this additional coverage if they choose to.

There are various components to a common auto insurance policy. The most important aspects of the automobile insurance policy include liability coverage, which is the negligible insurance most states insist on a driver to have, comprehensive cover, collision cover, personal injury cover protection, medical expense coverage, accidental death benefits, property damage coverage, and uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage. It is of the essence to understand these various types of coverage in order to effectively compare auto insurance charges.

Liability insurance is the most fundamental mode of coverage and is also the most customary, since it is essential by law in many states in order for a driver to be thought of as satisfactorily covered. A liability policy gives coverage for property damage and injury to others that is caused by the driver carrying such coverage. It does not include losses that the driver incurs, but only the losses that other parties experience as the result of an accident that was the failing of the covered driver.

Collision coverage will take care of any damage to the driver’s vehicle as the effect of a smash. Comprehensive automobile insurance will safeguard the individual carrying such a policy against other types of loss too, such as theft, damage caused by floods and storms, falling objects, explosions, earthquakes, riots and other such events. Some comprehensive coverage will also comprise repayment for lost wages as a consequence of an smash up.

It is a good idea to either do some online research for automobile insurance quotes on the make and model of the car you are considering about buying, or call on your insurance agent, before signing any paperwork and finalizing the purchase.Their insurance company can quickly tell them what their new auto insurance rates will be for the car they are considering. This will help them stay within their budget and help them to get around getting into a financial bind.

Do you know the proper auto insurance laws of your state? Do you know how much coverage you need? Or, what is the minimum coverage required? Do you have liability insurance? What will happen if you drive to another state and get pulled over?

The best source for your insurance laws is your insurance company. They will be able to answer the questions you want to ask them and be sure that you are covered in every instance. After all, it’s their job to know. Have your questions ready when you call them to save time and make sure that you don’t forget anything.

Each state will have specifics that must be followed when it involves your insurance coverage. Full coverage will cover injury to people, cars and property. Some states may only require coverage involving people. This is liability insurance. If you damage a car, then you must pay out of pocket for damages to your car, but insurance will probably pay for the other car.

One of the most unsought of thing is traveling to another state. You must have auto insurance coverage to conform to that state’s laws. Call your insurance before you cross state lines to change coverage to meet the local requirements.

There are options if you don’t have money to pay for insurance. Some states have vehicles you don’t need insurance for. In Washington and Oregon, motorcycles, scooters, and mopeds do not need insurance to drive them.

Most states require that you keep your proof of auto insurance in your car at all times. If you are pulled over by a police officer, you must provide proof of insurance. There are heavy fines if you don’t have it. If you forgot it or it expired and you didn’t get the updated version in the mail. Simply contest the ticket and provide proof to the judge and they should wave the fine.

Getting cheap auto insurance is a whole lot easier when you have a clean record. Knowing some basics about the laws can help keep your record clean.

Online shopping has changed the way we do things as Americans, Christmas shopping sprees that took hour upon hour, day after day can now be reduced down to a mere fraction of the time they used to take. A few points and clicks and your family’s entire wish list shows up at your door. No wasting gas on travel, no freezing your rear end off out in the cold and no Christmas Eve fights with someone twice your size who is looking for the exact same toy for their child that you are for yours when the store only has one left.

Online shopping has also allowed us to find the absolute best price on a particular item within minutes, with none of the trekking from store to store in search of the ultimate sale or bargain.

One of the biggest benefits of online shopping occurred when Auto Insurance entered itself into the picture.

What’s so great about buying auto insurance online?

Auto insurance is no longer an option, it’s a requirement and it’s often a very expensive requirement. Some drivers pay thousands and thousands of dollars a year to keep their cars on the road, so any savings available could be crucial in how they live the rest of their lives.

In the past, if you were considering switching from one insurance company to another it could take weeks to just get a quote. You had to mail out (or take into the local insurers office) all of your pertinent information regarding your automobiles and your driving record and it could take any number of days before they put together the information and generated a quote for you (if they were willing to take you at all based on your driving record.)

Many people just renewed the insurance policy they had, perhaps costing them hundreds of dollars a year, just so they didn’t have to go through the colossal hassle of trying to make the switch.

The ability to shop for auto insurance online has taken virtually all of the hassle out of making that switch, making it easy for Americans to save money by choosing the best policy through the best provider for them.

Who’s doing it?

Companies like ING, Belairdirect, and CAA where pioneers in the field of online auto insurance shopping. Making it super simple for drivers to get a fast (same day) quote and often allowing them to purchase the policy as soon as the quote is issued and print out a temporary card, allowing them to have immediate coverage until their permanent cards arrive in the mail.

Not to be outdone, many of the major auto insurance providers jumped on the wagon and now allow for online quotes and online purchasing of tailor-made policies. Some insurance companies even have a price comparison feature, where they give you a direct quote based on your information and also give you an idea of what some competitors would charge you based on your information. This let’s the consumer “shop around” without even having to visit more than one website, that is true convenience.

Even New Jersey, the state with the most horrible auto insurance rates nationwide now allows drivers the ability to choose to purchase their car insurance online through agencies like the Citizens United Reciprocal Exchange, or CURE, which has allowed drivers statewide to save upwards of thousands of dollars a year depending upon how many vehicles they insure.

As technology advances, it seems that almost everything in our lives is becoming easier to handle. In most cases, this is a good thing, but in the case of choosing a new auto insurance plan - it’s an incredible thing.
